Steve Baxter graduated from Texas Tech University with a B.S. in 1974 with a 3.7 grade point average on a 4.0 scale. He earned the Dean’s List every semester and majored in History with minors in Philosophy and Greek. Steve was President of Friday Evening Tape Class.

By 1985, Steve Baxter was assembling partnerships and buying larger apartment units with deferred maintenance in need of a reparation. He became well-known as a ”turnaround expert” because he had the management experience plus the construction skills and ability to complete a renovation on time and at a reasonable cost.

In nearly 40 years of active high school youth ministry, Steve has ministered to approximately 15,000 high school students. He has always encouraged them to think about what they would like to be spoken about themselves at their funerals and written on their tombstones.

Steve recalls Andrew’s hard work and enthusiasm on the court and looks forward to the future successes that will unfold as Andrew grows in college and beyond.

As a junior on the basketball team, Andrew Baxter was aware that he was not going to play much so he decided he wanted to be the best possible teammate on the basketball bench. He did this by encouraging the whole bench to overwhelmingly support the players and be cheerleaders on their behalf. He helped all the bench to "go crazy" for the players on the court. It made a huge change in the team and likely contributed to the fact that the basketball team made it to the playoffs for the first time in a long time.

Having fond recollections of his own high school days certainly gives Steve vicarious satisfaction in seeing Andrew do so well.

Andrew Baxter always loved Young Life in high school. The high school group met once a week, went on summer camps, and encouraged its students in their Christian walk. But BUCS was like Young Life at the next level, fellowship for university students eager to integrate their college experience with their Christian walk.

Andrew’s perspective is amazingly like that of his Dad, Steve Baxter, and ultimately to that of the Apostle Paul, who wrote, "Everything that was gain to me, I consider to be a loss because of Christ. What I mean is, I consider everything to be a loss in view of the surpassing value of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord.”

Furthermore, the Bible makes a challenge that goes something like this: "I call heaven and earth®ion=TopBar&WT.nav=searchWidget&module=SearchSubmit&pgtype=Homepage#/Real Estate Investment Property to record this day, that I have set before you life and death: therefore, choose life.”
